Fixing issues with Windows® Bluetooth®
Offer tips to fix the issues with Windows Bluetooth utility.
The Bluetooth technology is a new mode of connecting one device to another by means of sending and receiving data using wireless signals. Bluetooth provides a low-range network for peer–to-peer network devices. With this technology, you can connect headsets, keyboards, mouse, printers, and mobile phones to your computer without requiring wires. Almost all the laptops now have the Bluetooth feature integrated in them and Windows Operating Systems support this device and the drivers. The Bluetooth settings can be accessed from the 'Control Panel' settings in Windows. Once you have turned the Bluetooth device on, the icon will appear on the system tray and you can connect it to a Bluetooth-enabled device for file transfer. A Bluetooth service is added in the Windows Services Console to enable and control the operation of Bluetooth in Windows.
Issues related to Windows Bluetooth utility and some tips to fix them:
- Bluetooth icon missing
- Bluetooth device not detected
- Unable to find received files
Bluetooth icon missing
The Bluetooth utility can be started either by using a button on the computer or through shortcut keys. Even if the Bluetooth icon doesn’t appear in the System tray or in the notification area, try to start it from 'Control Panel'. In Windows services console, the Bluetooth service should be started and enabled. If it is not, check the Bluetooth driver status from 'Device Manager' and ensure that it is installed properly and is compatible with Windows.
Bluetooth device not detected
In order to transfer files to and from your computer, you need to add a device and pair it with your computer’s Bluetooth. You need to search for the device you are trying to connect to. Ensure that the Bluetooth discovery is turned on in both the devices in order to allow the device to find your computer. Also ensure that the antivirus software is not blocking the Bluetooth utility from connecting to the devices.
When you receive files from other Bluetooth devices, there is a possibility that you can’t find the files on your computer. This can happen if you have changed the default location of the files which are saved in the computer and that were received from other devices. You can check the Bluetooth settings and find the exact location where the files are being saved.
