Windows® Cannot Connect to Internet
How can we fix Internet Connection issues in Windows based computer?
You may face many Internet connection issues in Windows based computer. The main issue is with the server. Sometimes, the server may not work properly or has been temporarily detached from the Internet. Another reason is the improper configuration of Internet. TCP/IP configuration for the dial-up connection to ISP can also affect the connection issues. In some cases, the ISP's DNS server may not work properly. The present host files may get damaged or tainted: System_drive:Windows, System_drive:WindowsSystem32Drivers and System_drive:Program FilesNetwork IceBlack Ice directories .
Following are the various methods to solve Internet connection issues in Windows:
- Correct browser configuration
- IP Address verification
- Remote network
Correct browser configuration
You need to ensure that the Internet browser is configured properly for connecting to the Internet via dial-up connection to ISP. Then ensure that Internet browser is not configured to join through a proxy server. A proxy server is a computer that can work as 'go-between' barrier amid a local area network and the Internet. In order to verify these settings, you have to start Internet Explorer, and then select 'Internet Options' on the 'Tools' menu. Click the 'Connections' tab, and check the settings related to your ISP. To check if your browser is using a proxy server or not, you need to click on 'LAN Settings'.
IP Address verification
If your ISP has given you a static IP address, then you have to ensure that TCP/IP configuration for ISP connection comprises of accurate information. For this you have to follow certain steps. Connect to your ISP. Open 'command prompt' and type the following command: 'ipconfig /all' and press 'Enter'. The ipconfig /all command displays Windows TCP/IP settings for all the network adapters and modem connections. The address for a modem connection is exhibited as 'NDISWAN x adapter', where x is a number. The default gateway for the NDISWAN x adapter is equal to the IP address. If the IP address that is exhibited for your dial-up connection to ISP does not match with the IP address provided to you by ISP, then alter the IP address that is displayed to match with the address that your ISP provided.
You can connect to a local network using a network adapter and, simultaneously, connect to your ISP using a modem. Configure the dial-up connection in a order that any routing conflicts are solved in favor of the dial-up connection to ISP. Go to 'Control Panel' and double-click 'Network Connections'. Then, right-click your 'Internet connection' and select 'Properties'. Click the 'Networking' tab. Now click the 'Internet Protocol adapter' and select 'Properties'. Click on 'Advanced'. You need to check the box with message 'Use default gateway on remote network'. Click on 'Ok' and again click 'Ok'.
