Bluetooth® setup in a Windows® based computer
Are you looking for help to setup Bluetooth device pairing and resolve compatibility issues on a Windows based computer?
Bluetooth technology is widely used to connect devices through a wireless connection. Bluetooth device is in-built in most of the laptops and PCs. You can install the Bluetooth device as an enhancement. Setting up a Bluetooth device pairing on a computer is the method of introducing the other device to your computer for communication and file sharing. From the Bluetooth settings, you can add a device which you would like to pair with your computer. Windows automatically searches for the software and it lists the detected devices. Ensure that the device is in discoverable mode. You need to enter a password, which is optional, in order to complete the pairing and it will be displayed under the Bluetooth devices in Control Panel. Most of the Bluetooth adapters are compatible with latest version of Windows operating systems such as Windows 7.
Here are some common issues which can occur while setting up Bluetooth device in Windows based computers:
- Device not recognized
- Unable to communicate with device
- Passkey does not work
Device not recognized
If a Bluetooth device is not recognized or it shows the status as not working, you may not be able to initiate a communication. To resolve this, check whether the Bluetooth device is turned on and is functioning. The device needs to be removed and reinstalled if Windows does not recognize it. In Windows Device Manager, check the status of Bluetooth driver and check if it is updated.
Unable to communicate with device
Bluetooth network is limited to a short range. If your computer is unable to communicate with device make sure that the computer and the device are in correct distance apart and not too far. This issue can also happen if the device which you are trying to access is busy at the moment as it might be connected to some other computer. Wait for some time and try to reconnect in these cases. Also ensure that you are trying to connect to the correct device.
When you add a device, once it is listed in the Bluetooth settings window, you need to enter a password. The same password needs to be entered by the other device as well to complete the pairing. Ensure that you type the password correctly. Some devices use a default password. You also have an option, not to use a passkey to overcome this issue.
