Role of Windows® Quick Launch Toolbar
Get to know more about features of Windows Quick Launch toolbar
The new Windows 7 operating system's taskbar allows its users to dock items to the taskbar, combining the features of both the normal taskbar as well as Quick Launch. But some users may find that they really need the Quick Launch bar as it was in Windows Vista and XP OS. Windows 7 does not give you any instant way to bring it back, but it is still possible in some simple steps. It is only because Microsoft has not completely removed Quick Launch Bar; instead the Quick Launch Toolbar has been disabled and hidden by default. Windows Quick Launch Toolbar is one of the better features of Windows XP OS. Windows Quick Launch Toolbar was inherited by Windows Vista OS and had the same toolbar as Windows XP OS had, apart from just one addition of Aero Screenshots of the programs that were running on the computer.

Role of Windows Quick Launch Toolbar
Users were not supposed to search for programs in the huge list in the 'Start' Menu; rather you had shortcuts to all that you preferred most of the time. Basic programs like Internet Explorer and Media Player had their shortcuts in the Quick Launch toolbar. Also you had the option to add more buttons and links into it and remove the ones that you had by default.
Adding Quick Launch Toolbar
To add Windows Quick Launch, right click on the taskbar and move to the Toolbars menu; then click on 'New Toolbar' at the bottom of the menu. Unlock the taskbar also while doing this process by un-checking 'Lock the taskbar' on the main menu. In the location bar of the window that appears on the screen, you need to put the address- %appdata%MicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick Launch. This will help you to reach the Quick Launch folder of your computer. Then you should select the folder and accept it. Now you can see a Quick Launch Toolbar on the taskbar on the right side of your computer's screen. Then you drag and move the Quick Launch toolbar to the right side. You should drag the dotted line to the left side of the taskbar. You shall then right click on the dotted lines and un-check the 'Show Text' link and the 'Show Title' link on the menu that expands. You can then lock the taskbar once again to ensure that you have your taskbar protected from changes.
The advantage to having Quick Launch toolbar is that you can put the programs that you use less often or those programs that you want in one click and use small icons, giving you much more space than if you would have pinned all of them to the main taskbar of your OS.
