Windows® Remote Support
Role of remote assistance in Windows based system
Remote assistance is one of the most stunning features of Windows operating system. This feature comes with Windows XP and later versions. Remote assistance helps the user to control a remote Window computer to resolve their issues. They can connect through network or Internet. The main role of Windows remote assistance is that the system administrator can diagnose and repair the problems without personally visiting it. Remote assistance helps the Windows computers to communicate each other through network or Internet. In this mechanism there will be an expert who can view and repair the issues of another computer called Novice. With Novice permission, expert can take the control of the remote system and can resolve the issues with the system remotely.
Some of the requirements of remote assistance, how to enable remote assistance and how to use remote assistance are given below:

- Points to keep in mind
How to enable remote assistance
We can enable remote assistance in Windows 7 in two ways, from control panel and from registry. Before using the remote assistance feature you have to enable it in your system. In order to enable remote assistance select control panel from the settings. Select 'Performance and Maintenance' and select 'System'. Then click the 'Remote' tab and check the 'Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer' checkbox. Now you can select 'Advanced' so that you can set the amount of time we want to enable the access. Another feature is that we can change the control to the user who takes control of the system by selecting 'Allow this computer to be controlled remotely' check box. We can also enable the remote assistance from registry by typing the command on 'Run'. But this is a risky process.
How to use remote assistance
After enabling remote assistance in our system we can use this feature. In order to use this feature, go to the 'Help and support' from the start menu. Then under 'Ask for assistance', select 'Invite a friend to connect to your computer with Remote Assistance’. Click 'Invite someone to help you'. Now you can connect with some persons using Windows Messenger, e-mail or can send invitation as a file. If you are using Windows messenger then type the e-mail address and click 'Invite this person'. In order to send e-mail, you will be asked for subject, message and password.
In order to run remote assistance, both the novice's computer and expert's computer must have compatible versions of Windows operating system. And they should be connected to a common network system. In remote assistance, Internet can act as a common network. Another thing is that the person who asks for the remote assistance must have an owner account if he is using Windows XP operating system. If he is sending the files using Windows messenger or outlook express then before sending he must set-up any of this account. He can also send files using other file transfer methods.
