Windows® Safe Mode Hangs
What are the possible causes and solutions of the issue when Windows based system hangs while running in Safe Mode?
Windows Operating System are released by Microsoft. Windows Operating Systems are available in different versions such as Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista and finally Windows 7. These operating systems integrate several features to make their product simple. Windows Operating Systems are easy to install and use. They provide several security features, backup features and entertaining features for their customer. These systems allow the user to start in Safe Mode which is an advanced startup option. This option is mainly used to make changes in the system such as malware removal and resolving driver issues etc. Sometimes, we may not be able to reboot the system in Safe Mode or the Windows Safe Mode may hang. Therefore, we are unable to enter into the Safe Mode in order to make changes with the system settings. This mode is mainly used to configure most of the application software and system software. We cannot work on this product if Safe Mode hangs or fails.
Some of the causes for the Windows based PC to hang in the Safe Mode and some tips to resolve the issue are given below:
- Driver failures
- Corrupted system files
- Tips to resolve the issue
Safe Mode of Windows Operating System is mainly used to resolve issues of driver failure or removal of virus infection etc. But in some cases, we cannot access Windows Safe Mode. This may happen if the mass storage driver is damaged or accidentally removed from the system. IDE and SCSI are the mass storage drivers which play important role in the working of Windows Operating System. If these drivers get corrupted or damaged then we cannot restart the system in Safe Mode.
Corrupted system files
Another reason which may cause the failure of rebooting the system in the Safe Mode is due to the change or corruption occurred in the system files. Sometimes, these system files are modified by some programs. Programs that usually modify the system files are malware such as virus, Trojans, worms etc. These malicious programs sometimes change the system files which are necessary for rebooting the system in Safe Mode. Therefore, we cannot reboot the system in Safe Mode.
If the system is not able to restart in Safe Mode, then, try all the versions of Safe Mode to see whether it is working. If this fails then try with command prompt to replace a faulty driver or service. If the problem is with the mass storage driver then, you have to correct the driver to resolve the Safe Mode issue. If any malware causes the system to hang in the Safe Mode, then remove the malware using any powerful antivirus program and then restart the system.
