Fonts Messed Up in Windows®

Windows Font are stored in system folder in Windows. Fonts are very extensive. There are around 100 fonts in an average system. User can easily install fonts by copying the downloaded fonts file into Windows/System/Font folder. It is easy to remove fonts from the folder by deleting them directly from the source destination. The font collection of an user can be increased or decreased in simple steps. There are some fonts, which are essential for the system to work properly. Reinstall Windows Fonts
The messing up of fonts occurs because of uninstallation of a program called Left 4 Dead. Open command prompt and navigate to C:WINDOWSFONTS. Now, right click and select Install new font and browse to C:WINDOWSFONTS. Choose ‘Select All’ and then press 'Install' button. You have to select each font for installation, that is, if you have 150 fonts, then you have to select 150 of them. Restart the computer after installation and the issue will be resolved.
Restore default fonts
First, move the contents of Fonts folder to any empty folder. For this navigate to Fonts folder in System, copy all the contents, and paste it to a new folder. Get in to Registry by typing regedit in the Run window. Find [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoft Windows NTCurrentVersionFonts. Select the KEY and press DELETE. After deletion, select a new KEY by Edit -> New -> Key and name the new key. Now, restart the system. Re-install the fonts by double-clicking on Fonts in Control Panel. In addition, from the File menu, select 'Install New Fonts’ and copy the fonts that temporary folder where you had copied the fonts earlier.
In some cases, fonts mess up problem may affect the browser. That is, you will be unable to open the browser. The error message may be shown as 403 Forbidden. To resolve it, you can use Windows Installation disc. Open command prompt and go to i386 folder of Windows installation disc and use the expand-r command. Then, copy all the missing .tt_ and .fo files to Windows folder and replace C:WindowsFonts with %windir%fonts.
